At the end of every semester faculty are asked to encourage students to fill out student evaluations online. The college sends out the emails to students inviting them to participate in the evaluations of their professors’ ability.
Gathering students’ feedback and evaluation is believed to have value for instructors’ growth and development. If the results are unbiased and valid.
We will attempt to answer the question:
How reliable are the SET results for measuring instructor performance and learning?

OUTCOMES:
By the end of this pedagogical discussion, you will be able to:
1. Describe factors affecting student’s evaluation of teaching (SET)
2. Describe (and evaluate based on personal experience) how well the SET measures teaching effectiveness
3. Identify strategies for increasing response rates for end of course evaluations
