An integral part of the Southern Management Leadership Program has always been connecting our students to the movers and shakers in our community and the experts who support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners. In addition to entrepreneurs from a variety of industries, we have included Federal and local government representatives; professionals such as lawyers and coaches; representatives from community organizations like the Chambers of Commerce and Lions Club; and many others as well.
How We Work Together
Most of our speakers are scheduled during our regular seminars – Friday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:30. On occasion, we can schedule meet-and-greet events at other times as well.
While most speakers come to address our Southern Management Leadership Program students, presentations can be opened to reach a broader audience – either the MC student body at large or the Southern Management Leadership Program students at other institutions as well. We are open to exploring all options.
First Steps
To get started, reach out to the Program Director, Rebecca Razavi, at 240-567-2019.
During our initial conversation, we will discuss the following:
- What you can bring to the students and how it might align with the program mission and objectives.
- The course schedule and objectives that best match your area of expertise. Our speaker series aligns with the progression of topics students explore.
- Opportunities to extend the experience beyond a one-time event. This may include exploring options for internships or mentorships, other partnerships with Montgomery College, or ideas you may have for a future partnership with the Southern Management Leadership Program.
Once we have a plan, we will provide you with everything you need to make your visit successful. We can brainstorm with you on the best way to present your experience and knowledge, provide helpful information to the students ahead of time, make copies of handouts, etc. The secret to a successful visit to our program is thoughtful planning and preparation—and making sure that you are comfortable with the plan.
I hope you will consider reaching out to meet our wonderful students. Previous speakers rave that the experience is uplifting and inspiring to them as well—and many have become permanent partners of our program.
