My mother asks, What is a poem?
A sentence broken into shorter lines?
Meter, syllables, it doesn’t need to rhyme?
Psalms, Song of Solomon, not Leviticus.
A sentence broken into shorter lines?
A place to enter, space for feeling and breath
Psalms, Song of Solomon, not Leviticus
a garden of fallen apples, honeyed wasps
a place to enter, space for feeling and breath
nothing measured, but the measure of a measure
a garden of fallen apples, honeyed wasps
the blessing of two ponies in a pasture
nothing measured, but the measure of a measure
Meter, syllables, it doesn’t need to rhyme?
the blessing of two ponies in a pasture
My mother asks, What is a poem?
