By Ashley Neyra As I mentioned previously in part 1, I've been at Montgomery College…
As my time as a blogger and a student here at MC comes to a close, I thought I’d take some time to reflect on my experience here.
I’ll admit I was upset when I found out I would be attending Montgomery College—I was originally at Salisbury University but had to come home due to my Lyme disease. Everyone always called MC “high school part two” and I was not looking forward to it. But everything changed when I actually got to MC.
MC is amazing. The class sizes are perfect, the professors are so kind and you can tell they all love what they are teaching about. The people you meet at MC can become some of your best friends, too. I have met so many wonderful people and learned so many things from my time at MC.
In the classroom I learned the theories of communications, the history of jazz, what diffusion is and much more—all while being able to save money, living at home and having what I needed to get well again.
Outside of the classroom, though, I learned so much more. I learned how to come out of my shell and meet new people, many of whom became some of my best friends. I learned how important time management is—and if you get to the RV campus an hour before class you can find parking. I learned to never judge books, schools, or people, by their covers at MC.
The most important thing I learned at MC, though, is that everyone here wants you to succeed—from the professors, to the librarians, advisers and even your fellow classmates. If you need help, just ask someone. MC is one giant family rooting you on from day one, to graduation day, and beyond.
MC wasn’t my first choice, but if I could go back and change things it would have been. Nonetheless, MC has changed my life for the better in so many ways and anyone would be lucky to be a raptor.
Thank you all for “listening” to me these past 3 semesters and I can’t wait to see what comes next from MC Voices!
Have a great winter break!
That’s wonderful that you’ve had such a positive experience at MC, thank you very much for sharing. Your line about parking at RV is so true! Best of luck moving forward.
Thanks for sharing Cassidy! It has been such a pleasure reading your blogs. I wish you the best of luck with all future endeavors!
