For the finale, I know registration is coming up next week, so I wanted to…
Time to get real this week, MC. Do you find it hard to meet people and make friends? I get that vibe around campus. I wanted to discuss that with you all. Let me know what you think. Have you experienced this feeling or do you disagree with what I said.
If you would like to go to Club Rush this week, it’s going to be in the main arena in Theatre Arts in the center of the Rockville campus, from 12 – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20. I’ll be there, so come say hi at the Advocate table!
Important post Anna! This is the biggest complaint among MC students. Apparently, the average age is 26, I believe. That means many are working and probably going part time, online, etc. However, a substantial number came from high school, so there are many younger students as well. I agree community college makes it more difficult because you don’t live on campus, but I also agree with you that you have to take it into your own hands. Joining clubs is a great way. Maybe a “no phone zone” club is an idea – get together for board games or puzzles or something vintage that gets people to talk and laugh.
There is a board games club! It’s called the MC Board Hoarders and is a great group of people into playing non-digital games together! I wrote an article about them last semester in the Advocate: https://mcadvocate.com/15128/news/club-feature-mc-board-hoarders/
That’s great! Whether people admit it or not in this digital age, board games and togetherness is still popular – we’re human!
