Hey everybody! To start us off, I want to provide yet another motivational quote provided by Eternal Sunshine! 🙂

Progress is not measured by how fast we go, but how far we go. Whatever you choose to do in life, seek longevity, not brevity.

I think that is a pretty relevant quote for us current college students and even those just simply navigating life. My current peers and college students, with finals right around the corner make sure you’re focusing on pacing yourself and getting yourself prepared. Don’t worry about how fast you can tackle the material but more so on retaining the information!

Although academics are pretty important, staying healthy and fit is also a must-have when attending college. I recall as a Freshman how easy it was for me to get into the habit of stuffing my face with snacks and aloe vera drinks (I don’t drink soda :’) lol) galore. However, the toll constantly eating snacks takes on your body will not outweigh the benefits of pulling that all-nighter.

If you have to prioritize two things, let it be eating healthy and exercising regularly. I bet you guys expected me to say grades or studying. But honestly, if you don’t take care of your body and mental health, there will be no room to study or get good grades. Here are some small things to get started on a healthy journey and a new lifestyle.

  • Drink at least four cups of water a day!
  • Get a minimum of six hours of sleep!
  • Try to walk up the stairs, rather than take the elevator!
  • Find a gym membership!
  • Eat at least 2-3 servings of vegetables a week!
  • Stretch when you wake up!
  • Find school sports!
  • Walk throughout campus rather than driving!

P.S: MC offers open gym hours where registered students may use the facility to exercise and use the equipment. Meaning if a gym membership is a bit too pricy, you have the option to work out on campus! Woot woot!

I hope these tips really help and empower you all to make healthier living decisions. Leave a comment down below on what your preferred method of staying healthy is!

Hey there! I promise finding this author’s note and stumbling across my blog page is no accident. My goal at the end of the day is to hopefully get you laughing, encouraged, or ready to make a change in your life. Now back to basics. My name is Kayla Savoy and this is my second year here at Montgomery College. Although I transfered from a different Community college halfway through my first year, I decided to make the switch and study Interior Design here on the Rockville campus! My goal after graduating is to transfer to Marymount University where I will continue my path to becoming an Interior Designer!

In my spare time you might catch me walking along campus helping other students as part of my job as a Peer Navigator or hiding out in Macklin Tower playing the Sims 4! Although Interior Design is my passion for my ocupation, I have found comfort in designing stickers and writing on my own personal blog ‘Accidentally Fluffy.’

Hobbies aside, I know what it’s like to be a college student and see each phase and go through every struggle. I understand the late nights, the “I haven’t eaten in four days”, I even understand the procrastination and overwhelming desire to give up when classes get hard. I hope you view this blog as a safe haven and a place where you can get a quick laugh and not feel judged. I hope you feel empowered enough at the end of each post to search for the opportunities offered here at MC as well!
