"Only 19, but my mind is older."
My name is Patricia Isabel Pablo. My parents call me Trish, my siblings call me Ate, my family calls me Patis, my friends call me Patty, but it doesn't really matter what you call me right now because in 10-15 years when I'm accepting my Oscar, everyone will know my name. I'm a 2nd-year, full-time student at Montgomery College. I'm a Theatre major who one day aspires to become an author, screenwriter, cinematographer, and director, but some days all I want to do with the rest of my life is play video games for a living.
To paraphrase and totally butcher the beautiful words of Gertrude Stein, the Philippines is my country and America is my home (and vice versa, honestly). I was born and raised in the Philippines, but I've been living in the United States for the past eight years. I've moved around several times since, but Montgomery County is where my heart and cheap rent currently resides. Yes, I can speak more than one language.
I'm a strong, passionate, confident woman, so don't let my being only 5"1 fool you. I'm an intersectional feminist, activist, and Gryffindor, and I never stop fighting for the things I believe in. Most of my nights consist of me simultaneously binge-watching a show I've already seen on Netflix and furiously writing overzealous, empowered essays on civil rights for my own leisure. Education is extremely important to me, not just in a classroom setting, so I often keep an open mind to everything. Despite my introverted activities and tendencies, I still find the time to go out with my best friends and experience new things. I am the love child of Alexander Hamilton and Angelica Schuyler in personality, but when it comes to looks, I am 50% Philippa Soo and 50% Renée Elise Goldsberry.
I am best at Harry Potter & Buffy the Vampire Slayer trivia, baking cheesecakes, and flawlessly applying makeup in a moving vehicle. I imagine my life as a series of musical numbers, and you will often find me talking/singing/dancing to myself if you catch me off-guard on my own. Writing is my one true passion in life, and I write like I need it to survive. My life revolves around books, theatre, and musicals, and the best parts of my life are lived behind a camera lens.
Feel free to say hello to me if you see me around on campus (I have multi-coloured hair, so I'm easy to spot), but don't always expect a full-blown conversation with me as I'm either heading home/to class or listening to the Dangerous Woman album or a Harry Potter audiobook. One of my goals in life is to allow other people to view life from my eyes through my art, and I hope that I can momentarily achieve that through my vlogs. I'll see you around! Don't forget to be awesome!
Ugh! Something is going around – I am not in my best form this week either, but I can still yap. I like the way
you subtitled and amazing you are, you got your point across even without a voice! I hope you had it by opening night! and that you are pulling good crowds.
Thanks, Jane! My voice was definitely out of commission there for a few days, but I was alright for the show! I will say, though, that we found backstage to be cluttered with cough drop wrappers during our set strike, courtesy of me! I’m still sick and I haven’t exactly been getting better, so an advantage of the show being over is I can finally have some free time to take care of myself now.
Patty:
Great blog even without a voice! Loved the behind-the-scenes at the play. Feel better soon.
Thanks very much, Ray! Glad you enjoyed it!
