A special evening of Sufi music and dance featuring Afghan musician Humayun Khan. Humayun Khan is a superb singer of North Indian classical music as well as the traditional folk and modern classical music of Afghanistan. Originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, Khan’s family moved to Washington, D.C. following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1980. Khan grew up in a culturally oriented family and an atmosphere rich in traditional music and literature, and he went on to study with masters of classical music both in India and the United States. Sponsored by the Montgomery College Arts Institute, World Arts Festival, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, and by the Cultural Arts Center.
