Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.
This notice will continue to provide information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building construction and will now include updates regarding the HVAC rooftop replacement on Pavilions 1 and 2 (P1 and P2) and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.
Upcoming activities are listed below:
Pavilions 1 and 2—HVAC Replacement
- Piping Installation: The disturbed topsoil is expected to be restored on Tuesday with machinery that has a backup beeper. The ground will then be seeded and mulched. Tree protection measures remain in place until this work is final.
- Rooftop Work: Ductwork will be installed on the roof.
- Dumpster Removal: The site dumpster will be removed and replaced from New York Avenue. Workers will monitor vehicular and pedestrian traffic and campus security will be present to assist.
- Deliveries: A delivery of materials is expected. The truck will access the site from Chicago Avenue and park on the site.
- Upcoming Weekend Work: Henley Construction plans to conduct interior work only on Saturday, September 10, and Saturday, September 17. All work will follow the requirements of the noise ordinance.
Leggett Building—Construction
- Deliveries: Deliveries of materials are being received on site for use within the structure. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.
- Interior Work: Work on the interior of the building is continuing.
- Crane: A crane will be delivered to the site for the installation of mechanical equipment on the rooftop of the structure.
Library/Resource Center—Renovation
- No project updates at this time.
Project Update Forum
- Please join us on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, for a virtual Project Update Forum beginning at 6:00 p.m. We will provide an update on the status of construction and give an overview of upcoming phases for the Leggett Building, Pavilions 1 and 2, and Library/Resource Center Renovation projects.
