Hindi Words of the Week:

बर्फ  Baraf (buh-ruff) – Snow/Ice

गरम  Garam (guh-rum) – Warm

Hello raptors, it’s that time of year. Snow days are falling into our laps and we have to take advantage! I for one love snow; for some inexplicable reason, I feel like after it snows the weather is nicer. There is less wind and you get the added benefit of not being wet. Hahaha. Also, who doesn’t love the opportunity to make a few snow sculptures and snowballs. For me on snow days, one of the most crucial things, after hot chocolate and fuzzy blankets of course, are my video games.

I can honestly say I have no idea how many hours I’ve invested into gaming after all these years. I’ve played all the Tomb Raider games, all the God of Wars, all the Prince of Persias just to name a few. Suffice to say I’ve spent a lot of time in front of the TV with various consoles. One thing I can attest to is the fact that video games are sometimes better than movies. There is just so much more!

More action, more characterization, just all in all more story. There’s just more of it and you get to interact with it, making the experience uniquely personal. I love gaming and what a pleasure it was for me to find out that Montgomery College actually has an event geared towards gamers!

You can find out more about the event here. It is a video game tournament that will be held on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus on March 18th at 1:30 PM. Hope to see some of you guys there!

  1. Thanks for pointing out a gaming tournament for students! I presume it’s only for MC students. This sounds like a perfect day to get together and meet fellow MC students. I tend to agree with your assessment on the ‘after the snow’ day. Warmer, sunny and not windy and delightful for walks and cross country skiing …..or gaming 🙂
