Hi again Raptors!

I can’t believe that spring break is already next week! Time has truly flown by, my friends. I have taken my first exams and now I’m studying for the next ones that will be right after spring break. It’s not getting easy, but it will be worth it at the end of it all. I think that my time at MC has taught me a lot about myself and about the community around me. I am very excited to also share with you that I will be graduating this spring and transferring to the Universities at Shady Grove! I am beyond excited and very nervous at the same time because I will be taking more classes and will be visiting a new campus. There are a few things that I have to do before I leave MC though, so I thought I could share those with you in case you are transferring as well.

Apply for graduation: Make sure you have already done this because there are deadlines to be met depending on when you’re planning on graduating, maybe right after the end of the spring semester or after a summer class.

Apply to the school you’d like to transfer to: These schools also have deadlines as to when you should submit your transcript and file your FAFSA, so check their websites for more information and get it done soon! Remember that you may need letters of recommendation so don’t wait last minute to request those from your professors.

File your FAFSA: I hope you have already done this, but make sure to correct any mistakes before the deadline your transfer school has, and if you need help, go to your counselor or the financial aid office. Our school is always offering free help so don’t hesitate to ask:)

Request your transcript: Do this ahead of time because sometimes you’d like to send your transcript as soon as spring grades are ready. You can do this by logging onto your MC account and clicking the Registration tab on the top part of the page. You’ll then see under Registration Tools, the “Request Official Transcript” button; select it. You’ll then be taken to another window where you can request an electronic transcript to be sent to the school you applied to. Just follow the instructions and make sure to type in the right name of the school as well as when you’d like your transcript to be sent out.

Apply for Scholarships: Take advantage of this spring break and apply for those scholarships! All sorts of financial aid can help and remember that you can apply to as many scholarships as you’d like:)

I hope this helps some of you in the future and if you have already done these, great job!

Until next time,

Meredith

¡Hola! My name is Meredith and this is my third and last year at MC. I hope to transfer to the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) next fall. My goal is to become an orthodontist and reach out to countries and communities that cannot afford dental care. I hope to share my experience with you all and most importantly enjoy the process as we get through this year together.

I am now 20 years old and exactly 5 feet tall. Don’t let that fool you though; I am a small but concentrated human being. I enjoy talking to people just about anything, and I listen to a lot of music in my free time in both Spanish and English. Music is so special to me, especially if there’s meaning behind the lyrics and if it makes you move like nobody’s watching. I love going to the movies on the weekends.

When it comes to school, I am all for it. I am a low-key (maybe high-key) nerd. I get excited if I’m feeling prepared and organized when I step onto campus, almost like a super hero. Ok, maybe not to everyone. Either way, I always look forward to a new day and what’s to come with it. This doesn’t mean I will always be happy, but I will at least try to overcome what may bring me down.

I have never written a blog about myself, but I do enjoy talking so hopefully that comes in handy -fingers crossed! MC has not just taught me about the many opportunities but also being part of a diverse community might just be the best thing you could ever be part of. I am thankful for this opportunity and I hope you enjoy what I have to share about MC and well, me!

  1. Great advice and congratulations on your next steps to a four year degree. You’ll do just fine, I know it!
