Hey survivors

We are almost there!!! It’s hard to believe we are already in November, school just started, how are we half way gone and almost done with the semester? That sounds so much like someone who doesn’t want the semester to end but trust me I do (haha).

There is something about this semester that makes it fun and smooth. No it’s not that I am involved in student life or that my classes are easy on the contrary classes are harder. It’s funny how much we change, one season we can be one person and in the next season we are a whole different person.

I used to be that student that will wonder how others got A’s when I am barely passing a class. My first and second semester in nursing school were not fun and smooth, there were exhausting, tiring, boring and I always had that “I’m done” face. Looking at those who were answering questions in class and sounding smart like they were from a whole different planet. I felt dumb, out of place and just constantly behind for no reason. Sounds like you?

You see the problem wasn’t that my classmates were smarter than me, or that school was too hard, or that I was dumb. The problem was my MINDSET. You see, I saw nursing school as just something I wanted to get over with, I had accepted all the things people told me about school that I didn’t create an image for myself. I did not have the I CAN BE THE BEST mentality, I had brought myself down to thinking C’s are ok as long as I passed the class. I failed to see myself as the smart, creative, dedicated, hardworking person I am, I let my financial situation and other voices tell me who I was and somehow that was OK.

This semester is FUN and SMOOTH not because my classes are easy but because I have a RENEWED MINDSET. I don’t just see school as something I want to get over with, I want to learn more, I want to be the best nurse that existed, I am thinking the changes I could make in my country and the world as a nurse, I don’t go to class unprepared, I am now a member of the planet of smart question answering students in class because I prepare for lectures. Like me, you might be seeing school as hard but I encourage you today to take time out, think and look down deep into who you really are, renew your mind and see even the toughest class as the easiest and believe me it will all turn over. I left from the student comfortable and excited over a C to a student not comfortable with a B, constantly aiming and preparing for an A, which by the way I got my first A in an exam. IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU!!!

Bih Nche Kandi

Hi, my name is Kandi and I am a third semester nursing student. I am happy and excited to be a part of MC voices to not only Mc as a whole but to nursing students, foreign students without immediate family in the United States, African students, and new students. Why because that’s what makes me, I am all of that and much more.

I am a Cameroonian who has lived in the United States for almost 5years. I am a Christian and a believer in Christ and also a very optimistic person. I make and share a lot of encouraging/inspirational/motivational Videos and post on Instagram @uniquelykandi.

If you are new to MC welcome,
If you are new to the nursing program, welcome,
If you new to the United States, welcome.

I believe we will have a lot of fun sharing and learning from each other.
