https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
“I am free to create my own reality, and it starts with the quality of my thoughts and the words I speak unto myself.”

Can you guys believe we’re almost halfway through the semester? Like midterms are next week and the week after that we are free for Spring Break!! It seems like just yesterday, everybody was getting ready for a new semester or preparing to transfer out. This post will be specifically centered around finding some financial aid and scholarships to help with the ongoing costs at school.
Unfortunately, I am a student with multiple loans and the last two years have not been awarded scholarships through MC. This blog will serve as a duo purpose to promote some of the awesome opportunities here at MC AND some outside opportunities for those who may not qualify for Financial Aid.
Montgomery Foundation Scholarship Application –
This is a great place to start your scholarship search and find out more information! The application is pretty short and easy to understand. The application asks for general information and completes some short prompts. You may be asked about general education history and goals as well. This application when completed sends out your application to hundreds of different scholarships. Rather than applying separately for each scholarship, it gets sent out in once batch.
Cons: Financial aid may decide you ineligible for scholarships due to Financial need. Which is a bit difficult for students whose parents make a “steep” amount but aren’t actually receiving help.
Institutional Grants and Scholarships –
Montgomery College has a great page on their website to showcase any additional grants and scholarships offered throughout the school year. A lot of these grants/scholarships are geared towards high-school students and those that have financial need. On this page, you’ll also find honor programs that may compensate for academic achievement!
State Scholarships –
For those who may not know, the state of Maryland offers scholarships per county. Two county scholarships that are offered are the Delegate Scholarship and the Senatorial Scholarship. To access these scholarship applications, students must create an account on mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us and then look up who there delegates and senator is.
This will vary per county so make sure you are using your permanent address when completing these scholarships. You will need to use your FAFSA to verify certain questions.
I hope these resources helped you guys! Let me know in the comments if you have any additional tips or questions about certain tips!
Montgomery College is always trying to find ways to help students with the cost of college.
