https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
We’re halfway through. That really flew by. I haven’t really hung out my kids as much as I’d like, but they’ve been wanting to read and draw a lot more since dad has been doing homework at the dinner table. Silver lining. The last week has been pretty eventful – I’ve been working on a new punch recipe for fall at our restaurant, and juggling Biology, Communications, Health Behaviors, and PE. So far so good. Today, we went did some fitness testing and I saw just how much of an effect ditching the gym for study time has had on me. Not as strong as I was, but my stabilizer system is still in pretty good shape. I got some good advice from my Bio professor on overloading myself: “don’t.” I really ought to take the time to get up and move. Did a little skating today with the neighborhood kids, and almost lost the Caesar salad I had on campus when one of them pretty much mowed my daughter down. She was fine, it just took her about 15 minutes to realize it. I’m exaggerating – it was closer to 13. I must say, it felt pretty good to get out there on the board, especially after getting all noodly in PE. The facilities at Takoma Park/ Silver Spring are more than enough to get us loose (Rockville too). We ran through some good tests: bench press, military press, leg extension, leg press, lat pull down, and standing row. I needed that Caesar salad from the cafe. As I sat and worked my way through the greens like a wood chipper, I listened to the Salsa lessons above me on the second floor of the ST building. Sounded like fun! Pretty cool to know that if I wanted, I could leave my current status as worst Latino dancer in the Western Hemisphere. I think I’ll wear the crown a little longer. A lot going on – especially since priority registration just opened up for Health major students! I’ve pretty much got it all planned out from here to the BS in Kinesiology- thanks to the weighted Academic Plan assignment issued by my PE instructor. A blessing of an assignment, if you ask me. So here I sit, writing this over the course of three hours while registering, calculating my V02max, and listening to “come thru” by Samiyam on repeat. Nothing like a good beat. Speaking of “good beat,” according to exrx, my cardiovascular rating is excellent. That’s good news. Now if I could just get my bench press up. Good thing there are open gym hours all week here and Rockville. No excuses!
