https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
It’s the last week for school and for my stay at Montgomery College, it’s definitely been a learning experience(no pun intended). I’ve changed my intended major more times than I can count on my hand. I’ve flipped back and forth from wanting to continue college or go into the trades. I’ve realized that no longer how hard you think about a big decision, the one thing I really need to do is not think for a little bit, so that I can give myself a solid space and foundation to act from.
In other words, to let myself air out and rest. What I mean is it is important, at least to me, to have a time either daily or at least often to let myself get quiet and calm down. This is not the same as pigging out on the couch watching netflix and forgetting about finals. No, this is something like going for a walk, like I always preach the benefits of, or a hike or even just doing a hobby or a chore. The key is to just give your mind a rest, you honestly can survive not thinking about “the next thing and the next thing and the next-.” This even applies to times when you can’t figure something out, for instance college majors or career choice; something I think most of us are familiar with struggling with! That is not to say that you should just forget about everything and put all your concerns into a bag of uncaring. No, not that at all, I am merely suggesting you have a space in your day, if you don’t already, to just do the thing in front of you and nothing more. You can call it whatever you like: mindfulness, zen, meditation, me-time, rest, a nap, it doesn’t matter. What’s important is to realize that it’s okay to not be 100%, 100% of the time.

Before I go for the last time I’d like to say thank you guys. Thanks to the team that runs MCvoices and thanks to them for giving me the opportunity to try my hand at blogging. Thank you readers, If no one read this then it would really just be an online dairy. Thanks for making it more than that! Hopefully I could give you more or less an idea of what being a student at MC is like and what it’s like to just be a college student in general.
Farewell!
