Hindi Words of the Week:

आधा Aadha (ah-dh-uh) – half

जल्दी Jaldi (juh-ll-dee) – quickly

Hey everyone, hope all is well. We’ve officially reached the middle of the semester! Yay! Give yourself a pat on the back; we’re 50% done. Do you all remember how in high school and middle school life was just so much easier?

For me, my mom would wake me up almost every morning. I had a lunch ready to go and someone to drop me off where I needed to be. Even school itself was simplified. A small selection of classes to choose from, textbooks and report cards handed out.

Oh how I miss those days! Life really was easier then. However, I wouldn’t trade the life experience I’ve accrued over time to go back. Something I used to love back in those days that most seemed to find disagreeable was report card day.

I’ll be honest, I was never particularly excited to see my report card, even if I knew I was getting good grades. I just liked the fact that one of our classes ended early on that day. I only bring this up because in college you have to be the responsible one. You have to check your grades and be proactive about the entire situation.

It’s around this time in the semester when professors at MC post mid-term grades. Have you checked yours? If not, I urge you to ASAP. It’s not your final grade so you don’t have to worry about it; the important thing is that you see how you are progressing.

It’s important to be aware of where you currently stand in your classes so you know how much and where to direct your energy. If you don’t know how to check your mid-term grades just log in to your MyMC account. Once in, on the front page will be a button that says “View your grades.” After you click on that, select the option called “midterm grades”, and then choose the semester that you would like to view.

Make sure you check at least once so you have an idea of where to push for the rest of the semester; it’s a good checkpoint. Let’s go Raptors – we’re halfway done. You can finish strong!

  1. Thank GOD we are almost done! I think we all need a break and I am definitely looking forward to our Thanksgiving break! I hope all is well for you! I can totally relate to your post. In fact, you reminded me to check up on my mid-term grades. Luckily, I’m doing good. I just forgot they don’t tell us. I totally agree that high school is simpler than college. College has many responsibilities.
