Dub Semester

This semester is going to be a breeze if you stay on top of things. Below I created some tips that will help you in and out of class. 

Tips

  • When it comes to finding out what classes you need to take, please see a counselor. I remember taking a class because my friend told me to. By the fifth week of class, my professor overheard me telling another student my major. She said, “You’re not suppose to be in here”. You should have seen my face.
  • Don’t pay for a tutor; MC provides tutors through the writing center, the math center and mentoring programs. (plus it comes out of your tuition so might as well make use of it)
  • Find a group of friends
  • If you take the shuttle to get to one campus from another, I encourage that you start catching the bus ahead of time. For example, if your class starts at 10am, don’t wait to catch the 9:15. The bus may be full that day, running late, or you may just miss it entirely. So plan accordingly.
  • Get involved on campus. By connecting with your peers you can learn about many opportunities MC offers.
  • Get to know your professor, try and go that extra mile with them. Who know’s, they might be the one writing your recommendation when it’s time to transfer.
  • Check out the writing center, go to a few workshops.
  • Make sure you have an updated resume on you at all times. This resource is available in the career services department. Counseling Building (CB) 219.
  • Stop spending so much money at the bookstore or the cafeteria. Rockville town center has over a dozen restaurants and it’s cheaper (personal opinion).
  • You’re at MC so make it count.

Hello, I am Bob Ndubuisi Okoroajuzie. Honestly speaking, Christ is the center of my life or at least I try to make him the center. If it doesn’t relate to Christ, it doesn’t relate to me. I became more fond of him through the reading of his word, the same way you’ll become more fond of me through my blogs. Some are surprised when I tell them things like this, or even comment saying, “Oh you’re one of those”. I sometimes laugh because this is my mindset, but I still have a good time. I know when to be serious and when to relax, so the key component in my life is balance. Loving, honesty, and amusing make up Bob. 

I am currently majoring in Business at Montgomery College. My end goal is to graduate from UMD College Park Business school and attend law school (corporate law). I'm passionate about mentoring students and being mentored. Being mentored at a young age has truly helped shape me as a young man. Truly, being a student blogger is an honor. Sharing my experience at MC and providing information will benefit current and future students at Montgomery College. 

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

  1. Bob, these are all very useful, but the one that stood out to me the most was NOT to listen to ‘friends’ who perhaps want you in the class with them as a study buddy or something. Always check with a counselor because the truth is, many students do not check in enough and think they are going to graduate only to find out that they are short a class (or two). We have to be captain of our own ship!

  2. I totally agree with these tips! Connecting with your professors is not only nice for recommendation letters, but they can also give you connections to experts in a specific field. Nice job!
