https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
I LOVE the fact that all three MC campuses are so conveniently located and accessible. It makes not only the lives of students easier, but also community members who live and work in and around the areas where Montgomery College campuses are located. One of the many ways MC provides resources and support to the community is by holding various programs throughout the year. I just happened to stumble across one coming up this week that is an amazing opportunity for everyone who is a part of the MC community, which is, well… EVERYONE!
On October 26th, from 11 AM-2 PM, there will be an event on all campuses called “Party to the Polls”. The focus is in engaging MC students and the community at-large in the voting process. And when they say “party” they MEAN party! There will be food, games, and more, along with people to help you get registered to vote, to get more information on the issues affecting our county, and to get more information on the candidates. Additionally, there will buses available to take people to the polls for early voting! How amazing is that?
Now, if this event isn’t your style, check out some of the other events that are going on over the next several weeks:
October 24th – Erica Wright Speaks on Poetry – Germantown Campus
November 7th – Pathways to College Night – Germantown Campus
November 10th – Reginald Cyntje at MC Music Recital Hall – Rockville Campus
In addition to the awesome opportunities for events happening on campus, there are also some great videos and live streamed events to be found on MC’s Facebook page. If you happen to be like me and have a jam-packed schedule, checking out the live videos on Facebook may be just the ticket for you, as it lets you knock out some homework while learning more about the MC community.
Some of the videos that have streamed just this week are:
Presidential Dialogue Series
MC Presents Real Students, Real Talk
Pictures at an Exhibition: Special Montgomery College Piano Concert
Finally, not only is Montgomery College committed to providing an excellent education to the students it serves, but it is also committed to enriching the surrounding community. This is where the Community Engagement Centers come in. These centers, located in Gaithersburg and Silver Spring, can help people take the next step from being a member of the surrounding community to becoming a member of the student community at MC! These Community Engagement Centers have staff who speak multiple language and are ready to help community members get connected to MC.
So many amazing ways to get and stay connected to Montgomery College. Which will you choose?
Nice informative post LaTia. There are so many and such varied events – something for everyone.
