A reflection of my time a MC and some advice and perspective to future college students.

Michael

Hey my name is Michael Gorres, I’m 21 years old and a Graphic Design Major at the Rockville campus of Montgomery College. I was born and raised in Montgomery County and graduated from Magruder High School. After graduating from MC, I hope to receive a bachelor’s degree from UMBC. Eventually, I intend to become a successful graphic designer at a well known Gaming Company.

When I'm not in school or at work I like to play video games, try new foods, go hiking, and hang out with my friends. To me, the best memories are those spent with great people. I'm pretty much an energetic, nerdy, and creative guy.  I look forward to entertaining you with all my adventures in and around campus!

  1. Hey Micheal, you pointed our several things that I have repeatedly heard from others: MC offers a better foundation for transition to a four year college due to the nurturing environment (professors who care about the student vs. dumping teaching on an RA while they are in hot pursuit of funding) as well as the small class size. My son took a few gap classes here and said MC had the best professors he had had (he was transferring from an out of state university to UMUC), so he was comparing the three colleges. The hugest mistake I see/hear, is that MC is like a remedial school and the classes are not challenging. We need to do more to dispel that belief. Last of course (or last on the student’s minds but certainly not the parents!), is simply the amount of money saved by the first two years being at MC!
