https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
I’m not sure why I enjoy this sort of art; it’s got to be the space and the simplicity in these works. I mean, it looks as though it was the product of a 8 year old, and at the same time it’s something admirable and enjoyable. I actually ran across this image on Reddit and thought I should share it. Maybe it’ll strike you like it did me. Maybe not.
This leads into more of a ramble on my hobbies. I love old stuff, whether it’s poetry, art, religion, philosophy, etc. It’s apparent to me that the classics have shaped us more than we care to admit, even if we haven’t had any direct contact with them. I’m talking about drama and its effect on society in the East and West. The Greek classics for the latter, the Noh dramas for the former. I’ve never been much of an artist, but I’ve always seen the merit in picking up the skills our day and age might not necessarily need. That is, botany, sewing (clothes making in particular), woodblock print, and especially cooking. I’ll elaborate on the cooking; cooking is something I believe more people should acquire as a skill. Most of my friends, being around the age of 20, still don’t know how to make themselves anything more complicated than top ramen. It is embarrassing not to be able to take care of yourself and be self-sufficient. Don’t handicap yourself; learn to be independent and therefore self-sufficient and productive. Eating out isn’t always an option and it definitely isn’t affordable either.
So how does this tie to going to MC?
Self-Sufficiency. I don’t care what career path you choose as I have no opinion on going the humanities route vs. the STEM route. As long as it puts food on the table and you enjoy it, by all means do.
Until next Wednesday, Auf Wiedersehen

Jake, my family loves to cook, but I can see it is almost a dying art! What a shame since it not only tastes better, is healthier and cost less, but it brings friends and family together. In my family, the men are all great cooks too! I am proud of that. I also am an advocate of self sufficiency and very often rely on me, myself and I. I am usually a believer of ‘if you want something done right, do it yourself’, but self sufficiency can translate into many things, including financial ones.
