https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
Around this time last year, I was already complaining about how cold the weather is getting. Never did it occur to me at the time that we would have so many days of school cancelled because of snow in the Spring. And around this time last year, I wrote this piece (picture above) as a reminder to embrace things as they are, even the messy ones, because as we have learned in classrooms and in life, that nothing ever stays the same. Something always changes. This time last year, I was just another dreamer. How I became a Montgomery College student blogger is a dream-come-true in itself! I first heard about this program towards the end of Fall 2015 from a friend of a friend. Days passed and weeks flew by and I still have thoughts about it in the back of my mind. It would never go away. I knew I loved to write and Montgomery College feels like home to me so to write for an institution I loved would be such an honor. So I made being a student blogger my goal. I started my own personal blog and wrote about anything that mattered to me. For a year, I read blogs from previous student bloggers and “studied” how it works. For a year, I wrote and wrote and wrote. I heard somewhere that you made time for the things you want. My long-term goal is also to publish a book someday in the future! This writing thing is inside of me. It can’t be shaken, it cant be moved. The tides will change, the waves will be rough and my nerves will probably get me nearly-killed somewhere along the ride but I want to be hopeful and I want to always stay a dreamer.
Some things I do know:
Dreaming isn’t just for Dr Martin Luther King Jr. or Mr. Walt Disney.
This year will be different from last year.
Things will be clearer now and with more purpose to it.
Writing these words was just a dream last year.
Yours Truly,
Ray Ann
Very nice first post Ray Ann! Great advice and a wonderful perspective as well. It’s always good to chase any dream you have and make them come true for you. It sounds like you have a lot of determination, realize that we have to be flexible with change; you are well on your way, I think, to write your first novel. I am sure you will. Best of luck! I look forward to your next post!
Snow in the Spring?! Get outta here – In AZ we barely get snow in the winter, and thats only in select parts of the State. Lucky you!
