https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOA7dKSThWY Hey! Welcome to my fourth entry at MC Voices, today I will be showing…
Thursday quote: “When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new.” – Dalai Lama –
As students we tend to juggle a lot and have many things on our plates, whether it’s trying to keep up with assignments while having a full time job, applying for financial aid because you can’t afford school on your own or trying to deal with your personal life.
We get frustrated with professors when they take forever to grade our tests, when they are late for class or even when they jump around the syllabus sometimes, but we have to remember that our Professors aren’t just Professors, they have their own hobbies, interests and personal lives too.
So the reason for my dramatic introduction is because this week I wanted to brag about some of my Professors. Being a Theater Major I have had the privilege of being taught not only by Professors but actors themselves and when I find that they are in productions, I am the first one on the bus to get my front row seat. The same way they support us by helping us with assignments we don’t understand or going out of their way to help us, I feel we can support them when they thrive in something other than standing in front of the classroom and educating us. And of course my own selfish reason is that I want to see if they can really act or not.
If you have taken a Fundamentals of Acting class, you might have had either Professor Sasha Olinick or Professor Jessica Lefkow and you’d know that not only are they passionate teachers but brilliant actors as well. If you don’t know them I have the perfect opportunity for you to go and see them both in action.
Professor Olinick is in play called The Last Night of Ballyhoo by Alfred Uhry and lucky for you the play just opened. And because I am so nice I will give you all the details.

Professor Lefkow is in a play called Top Girls by Caryl Churchill and you only have 3 more opportunities to go see it and believe me, it is a powerful play that just tears at your heart strings (I have seen it, so believe me!)

And because you read my blog I will give you a code, TopGirlsMCCC, and you can use it for either today or Friday’s performance but hurry because they only give out a limited amount of free tickets (to MC students) for those two shows. Reserve your ticket by emailing boxoffice@keegantheatre.com.
And if you haven’t decided what classes you want to take next semester, come on over to the Theater Department and take a Fundamentals of Acting class. You get to meet awesome people and learn great new skills, plus have lots of fun.
Instead of sitting in front of your laptop on a Saturday night and watching Netflix, get up, get dressed and go see one of these productions. Take a friend with you and experience the wonder of live theater.
