An Innovation Works Forum on Team Collaboration
“The Science and Application of Team Neurodynamics”
Does brain-imaging provide us with any special insights into the mystery of high-functioning teams?
Can we get members of the team to operate “on the same wavelength,” and perhaps more importantly, is that even what makes for a high-functioning team?
Join us for this special presentation
March 9th, 6:30-7:45 pm
The Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center
Montgomery College
51 Mannakee St, Rockville MD 20850
Dr. Ronald J. Stevens, from the Brain Research Institute at UCLA, and John Kolm, CEO of Team Results USA will discuss and demonstrate the latest innovative research on team neurodynamics.
During this presentation, Dr. Stevens will talk about his recent research on EEG-based team neurodynamics in settings as diverse as nuclear submarine command teams, surgical teams, and regular workplace teams. These studies are leading to science-based and evidence-based models of how work teams think, feel and act. Ron is a pre-eminent scientist in this field and has won many recent awards, including the Foundation of Augmented Cognition Award and the Admiral Leland Kollmorgan Spirit of Innovation Award. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, DARPA, the Office of Naval Research, the Department of Education and many others.
John Kolm will highlight the practical applications of this research to teamwork and training. In 1996, John Kolm founded Team Results with ex-fighter pilot Peter Ring, originally so that they could both learn more about what worked and what did not work with people and teams. Team Results grew rapidly, and now runs team and leadership development and organizational planning programs on four continents. In 2004 he wrote a best-seller on success and leadership at work, Crocodile Charlie and the Holy Grail, which is published in seven languages and fourteen countries including the U.S.A.
This event is part of an ongoing series of discussions designed to enhance the capacity for innovation. This event is sponsored by the Montgomery College Innovation Works, the Office of the President and the Education and Social Science area of Montgomery College.
