Introducing “MYCELIUM”: Sirintip’s captivating interdisciplinary musical suite, born from a five-year artistic and research odyssey, intertwines the wonders of fungi and plankton with the power of music and storytelling. Mycelium, the intricate underground network of fungal organisms, inspires a journey of interconnectedness and hope, mirroring the unseen bonds between humanity and nature.

Through collaborations with trumpeter/composer Danny Jonokuchi(Lady Gaga), visual designer Nitcha Tothong (Lumen Prize Winner), and dancer Marie Lloyd Paspe (former Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company), MYCELIUM merges science and artistry, incorporating data sonification, lyrical storytelling, and captivating visuals.

This performance, accompanied by a large ensemble of nine musicians, visual projections, and dance invites audiences to delve into the unseen world of microorganisms, fostering a sense of wonder and empowerment amidst environmental challenges.

About The Collaborators

Sirintip – Creative Director, Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator, Singer

Mycelium is founded by award-winning Thai-Swedish research artist, singer, and producer Sirintip. She has issued three critically acclaimed releases, Carbon (Ropeadope), The Lost World (GroundUP), and Tribus (GroundUP); collaborated on 19 releases such as Bill Laurance of Snarky Puppy; and produced albums for artists like actor Melanie Smith (Seinfeld). Commissioned pieces include orchestral arrangements for the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestras and interpretations for both the Nobel Chemistry Prize and the Nobel Prize for Peace, and her film score for Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1925 feature “Lost World” premiered in 2022 through Alamo Drafthouse. She has appeared at international festivals and major venues across the world, alongside Benny Andersson (ABBA), Snarky Puppy, and countless diverse acts. She’s a Thelonious Monk International Competition finalist.

Danny Jonokuchi – Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator, Trumpeter

Danny Jonokuchi is a versatile jazz artist based in NYC and Los Angeles, celebrated as a trumpeter, vocalist, composer, arranger, producer, and educator. A performer on two GRAMMY® Award-winning projects, Danny is known for his “world-class arrangements” (Broadway World) and critically acclaimed albums. His accolades include the 2024 ISJAC Wayne Shorter Jazz Arranging Prize, the 2020 ASCAP Foundation Louis Armstrong Award, and the Count Basie Great American Swing Contest (2020).

Danny leads The Danny Jonokuchi Big Band, a 17-piece ensemble, and The Revisionists, a swing band with an authentic sound praised by Syncopated Times. His big band albums, A Decade and Past is Present, have garnered rave reviews. He co-composed the suite Mycelium with Sirintip.

Danny’s arrangements have been performed by Lady Gaga, Nicole Zuraitis, and top orchestras worldwide. His performances span iconic venues like Birdland and Dizzy’s Club, with international appearances in Europe and Asia. Danny holds a Master’s in composition from Queens College and credits mentors such as Terell Stafford and Dick Oatts for shaping his artistry.

Nitcha “Fame” Tothong – Art Director, Visual Artist, Designer
Lumen Prize award-winner Nitcha(fame) Tothong is a Thai-born, Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist, researcher and designer whose works focus on cross-medium pollination and the juxtaposition between digital and analog that inform each other to investigate how technology and media affect and shape us. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and a wide range of clients, from individual artists to established companies internationally.

Nitcha’s projects have been featured widely in the media, including Fast Company, T3, Adafruit and NHK World (Japan), IdN World (Hong Kong), as well as being exhibited at major festivals and institutions including IndieCade East, SXSW, and the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, as well as the industry-leading annual global event, ISWC.

Marie Llyod Paspe – Choreographer, Dancer

Marie Lloyd Paspe is a Filipina-American choreographer, performance maker, dance and vocal artist, educator, writer, and activist. A 2024 Harlem Stage WaterWorks Emerging Artist Fellow, she earned a Bessie Award for Outstanding Choreography with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company for Deep Blue Sea (2021). Other fellowships include the 2023-24 Target Margin Theater Institute, 2023 GALLIM Moving Artist Residency, and 2022 Asian American Arts Alliance Jadin Wong Fellowship.

Born in Singapore, Marie grew up in Mississauga, Canada, and Boston, MA, and has lived in NYC since 2012. Of Batangueña and Ilonggo heritage, she became a U.S. citizen in 2019. She performed with artists including Bill T. Jones, Carolyn Dorfman, treya lam, and Sirintip. Her choreography has been featured internationally in Germany, China, and the Philippines, and nationally at venues such as Joe’s Pub, MASS MoCA, and Lincoln Center.

Jessica Wu – Co-director, Dramaturg
Jessica Wu is a New York City-based writer, director, and songwriter with over two decades of performance experience on Broadway, national tours, and television. She has written acclaimed musicals and theatrical works, including You, Me, I, We and Hello Kitty Must Die, and serves as Artistic Producer at Brooklyn Children’s Theatre, creating equitable musicals for young performers.
