DUA: THE MONSTER’S STORY
STONE RABBITS. STONE ALTARS. STONE MEN.
Lost, Medusa—no, Dua—seeks safety in a cave and makes it a home for herself. One where she can defend her sister, give birth, and maybe serve Athena in defending the world against men who would dare to look at women the wrong way.
Surely the gods wouldn’t have a different plan for a woman with the power to turn men to stone…
Kicking off the season is the world premiere of Dua: The Monster’s Story by DMV-based playwright Robin Berl. Selected as the winner of Prometheus’ 2022 “Pitch Your Passion” program, Robin will direct this moving feminist retelling of the Medusa myth after a year of development with Theatre Prometheus, including a reading at the Kennedy Center’s 2023 Local Theatre Festival.
