Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

This notice will continue to provide information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building construction and will now include updates regarding the HVAC rooftop replacement on Pavilions 1 and 2 (P1 and P2) and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

Pavilions 1 and 2—HVAC Replacement

  • Rooftop Work: A forklift will be delivered to the site during the next two weeks, entering from Chicago Avenue, and will be used to place weather protection pieces on the new HVAC units.
  • Interior Work: Interior work related to the project will continue.
  • umpster Removal: The site dumpster will be removed and replaced from New York Avenue during the week. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be monitored.
  • Saturday Work: Henley Construction will conduct interior work on Saturday, October 29, and Saturday, November 5. All work will follow the requirements of the noise ordinance.

Leggett Building—Construction

  • Site Utilities: Excavation is occurring for the installation of utility piping on the Fenton Street side of the structure.
  • Weather Preparation: Preparations for upcoming winter weather are continuing with plastic sheets being temporarily placed on the exterior openings. Temporary heating units will be delivered and installed on site.
  • Deliveries: Materials are continuing to be delivered on site for use within the structure. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.
  • Interior Work: Work on the interior of the structure continues to advance.

Library/Resource Center—Renovation

  • No project updates at this time.
