Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Projects Updates – March 3, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

This notice provides information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

• Masonry: Preparations for the brick installation are continuing, including waterproofing of the concrete masonry wall behind the brick. 
• Site Utilities: The backfilling of utility piping on the Fenton Street side of the structure is advancing. 
• Interior Work: Interior work within the structure continues. 
• Deliveries: Materials are being delivered on site for use within the structure. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.

• Building Permit: The permit for the building has been approved. 
• Interior Demolition: Limited interior demolition will occur. A dumpster will be delivered to the north entrance of the site. The dumpster will be removed and replaced on site daily. In coming weeks, after the completion of this limited demolition, interior abatement activities will begin in compliance with all health and safety laws and regulations. 
• Tree Protection: Tree protection measures have been installed on site. All preparations and work on the site were made in accordance with the College’s construction directives and in compliance with the approved tree protection plan.
