Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Projects Updates – March 10, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

This notice provides information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

Leggett Building—Construction

• Masonry: Brick installation preparations are progressing, including waterproofing the concrete masonry wall behind the brick. 
• Site Utilities: The backfilling of utility piping on the Fenton Street side of the structure is continuing. 
• Interior Work: Work on the interior of the structure continues to advance. 
• Deliveries: Materials are being delivered on-site for use within the structure. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.

• Interior Demolition: Interior demolition continues. Dumpsters have been placed on the north entrance of the site. Deliveries and collections will continue to take place daily. 
• Abatement: Limited interior asbestos abatement work is expected to commence in mid-March and will be in full compliance with all safety laws and regulations.
