Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Projects Updates – January 13, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

This notice will continue to provide information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building construction and will now include updates regarding the HVAC rooftop replacement on Pavilions 1 and 2 (P1 and P2) and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

• Montgomery College will be closed on Monday, January 16 in observance of MLK Day.
  
• There will be no work conducted at the P1/P2 and Library/Resource Center jobsites during the holiday.
  
• The Leggett Building jobsite will be open and there will be construction activity during the holiday.

• The exterior work for this project has been completed. The interior work is nearing completion. Additionally, roof work may be needed later this Spring. We will keep you updated. 

• Roof Work: The screen wall installation around the remainder of the roof is nearing completion.
  
• Site Utilities: The backfilling of utility piping on the Fenton Street side of the structure is ongoing. 
• Interior Work: Work on the interior of the structure continues to advance. 
• Deliveries: Materials are being delivered on site for use within the structure. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.

• Site Preparation: Utility locations will be marked in preparation for the installation of construction fencing around the site. Temporary fencing will be placed around the site. All preparations will be made in accordance with construction directives and in line with the approved tree protection plan.
