Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Projects Updates – August 19, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

This notice will continue to provide information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building construction and will now include updates regarding the HVAC rooftop replacement on Pavilions 1 and 2 (P1 and P2) and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

Pavilions 1 and 2—HVAC Replacement

• Rooftop: Roof materials removed during the new HVAC unit installation will be replaced.
• Interior: Interior work will continue.
• Deliveries: Small deliveries are expected and will park and access the site from New York Avenue, make the delivery, then leave the area once the delivery is complete. The trucks will not traverse past the North Pavilion. 

Leggett Building—Construction 

• Deliveries: Materials are continuing to be received on site. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.
  
• Interior Work: Interior work on the structure is continuing.
• Saturday Work: Barton Malow will work this Saturday, August 20, beginning at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. All work will follow the requirements of the noise ordinance.
• Crane: A crane will be delivered on Monday, August 22 for the installation of mechanical equipment on the rooftop of the structure.

Library/Resource Center—Renovation

• Fiber Cable: New fiber cables have been installed to replace existing cables that connect to the Resource Center.
