Hello All,

It’s officially Fall and I hope everyone is enjoying the warm days and cool nights—good sleeping weather.

Just a short note to let you know about an upcoming utility activity you may see taking place on Takoma Avenue over the next 1 or 2 weeks. In preparation for the demolition of Falcon Hall and Science South, PEPCO has cut off electrical service to both buildings and removed a transformer on MC property that served Falcon Hall.

To completely disconnect the power, PEPCO will remove the underground line used to connect the transformer to a power pole on the north side of Takoma Avenue across the street from the Campus near Fenton Street. The location is shown highlighted in green on the drawing below. The power line will be pulled out from the end on MC property so there will be NO need to dig up Takoma Avenue.

Unfortunately, PEPCO will do this work when they have a crew available and won’t provide either MC or Barton Malow with any specifics about when this work may occur despite our request to do so.  The removal of this service line will not have any impact on power to the neighborhood.
