Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

Upcoming events are listed below:

  • Demolition
The structural demolition of Science South and Falcon Hall is complete. Demolition of the tennis court retaining wall was delayed, and we anticipate it beginning next week.
  • Site Utilities
Sanitary piping and structure installation continues to progress on the east side of the jobsite, moving towards the north side of the project. This work will be concurrent with the ongoing storm drain work. These activities will include the use of dumpsters for material removal.
  • Earthwork
Dewatering well drilling continues. The earthwork equipment has been mobilized and site grading has begun. In the upcoming weeks, mobilization of additional earthwork equipment, such as excavators and smooth drum rollers, will begin.
  • Trees
Additional measures to protect the existing trees between Science North and the Resource Center were performed by the project arborist. This included air spading, which clears the soil around the roots with compressed air. Removal of bushes and permitted trees above the tennis court retaining wall will begin next week.

Please visit the project’s website at montgomerycollege.edu/tpss-design for additional information. You may contact us with questions at community@montgomerycollege.edu or call the project hotline at 800-879-9879.

Thank you,
