Leggett Building Project Activity Update – June 4, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

• Pile Drilling
  Pile drilling or the support of excavation will begin next week. These activities may include heavy machinery and equipment. To lessen the noise and vibration impacts, BMC will drillpiles, instead of drive piles (which is standard practice in many construction projects). This work is essential to begin excavation, which is next major activity, and will take place for the next few weeks.
• Site Utilities
  Work on the sanitary piping and structure installation continues to progress on the east side of the project moving northwards, concurrent with the ongoing storm drain work. These activities include the use of dumpsters for material removal.
• Earthwork
  Piping for the wells to a water tank is underway, with the intent to begin pumping water early next week. Mobilization of earthwork equipment and the sheeting and shoring equipment will take place over the next few weeks.
