Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

  • Steel
The delivery of steel materials and the erection of steel columns and beams is complete. Smaller steel components will continue to be delivered on flatbed trucks. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.
  • Concrete Operations Changes
The new phase of our concrete operations and the placing and finishing of concrete floor slabs within the steel structure has commenced. As previously noted, a pump truck is necessary to support the placement of the slabs. To increase efficiency of the finishing process, we have consulted the City and the County about bringing in the concrete pump trucks at 6 a.m., an hour earlier than usual. That operation has been in use beginning Wednesday, February 16. Learn more about the current concrete process and likely changes to site operations on our website. This phase is expected to last about a month.
  • Hauling Materials
When needed, soil is being removed and replaced from the site.
  • Spring Semester Operations
Students are back on campus this semester for face-to-face classes. All employees and students must be vaccinated or obtain an exemption from this requirement and test regularly.
