Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

Upcoming events are listed below:

  • Demolition
Debris removal from the Falcon Hall structure, removal of Falcon Hall foundation walls and structure, and demolition of Science South will continue this week. Debris removal and demolition is progressing on schedule.
  • Site Utilities
Utility demolition and new installation are underway adjacent to the Commons Building and Takoma Avenue. Specific activities will include saw cutting, pavement removal, earthwork and marking locations for future work. Onsite excavation for the new domestic water line from Takoma Avenue as well as the stormwater and sanitary structure installation will continue. These activities will include material deliveries and the use of dumpsters for material removal. While work will continue on the water line, activities in the street are complete, and Takoma Avenue is reopened.
  • Earthwork
Signage has been installed to notify the community that the east side of Fenton Street sidewalk is closed and that construction vehicles are entering and exiting the site. These signs will remain through the duration of the project.
  • Site Power/Lighting
Installation of power feeds to temporary site lighting continues. This will be the last activity to complete the temporary site power and lighting for the duration of the project.
