Hello All:

This evening we will be providing an update to the Takoma Park City Council. We look forward to sharing the current project status with the council. We appreciate Mayor Stewart’s and Councilmember Kovar’ s insights, leadership, and guidance to find effective ways to address the construction related concerns of our neighbors. The Leggett Building Construction Considerations, which I shared yesterday, can be found on the project website.

Montgomery College and the Barton Malow Company (BMC), the College’s construction manager are committed to managing the construction process that recognizes the residential location of the campus and staying connected with our neighbors during the construction process.

To that end, I want to let you know, as we shared at the September 10 Project Update Forum, that fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the project site.

At this point in the project, the decommissioning of the buildings is virtually complete. As a result, beginning the week of November 11, BMC will be on site to install the fence and an office trailer inside the fence at the project site. The fence installation may be noisy. BMC will insert the posts into the ground to secure the fencing—adding to the site’s security and aesthetics of the fence. Shortly after the installation, screening will be wrapped around the fence to limit the visibility to the site.

BMC will conform to the City of Takoma Park’s noise ordinance during the fence installation and at all times during the construction process.

The parking lots next to Falcon Hall and Science South will close for the duration of the project at this time. Additional reserved spots are available for faculty and staff in our campus garages.

All the presentations shared at project update forums along with responses to the questions raised at the forums are posted to the project website.

The project hotline will be operational as of November 11. The phone number is 800-879-9879. You can also contact us at to community@montgomerycollege.edu.

Take care,
