Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Projects Updates – September 23, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus construction projects. We strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

This notice will continue to provide information on the construction of the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Building construction and will now include updates regarding the HVAC rooftop replacement on Pavilions 1 and 2 (P1 and P2) and the campus library renovation in the Resource Center.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

Pavilions 1 and 2—HVAC Replacement
  • Piping Installation: With the piping installation complete, the ground will be seeded and mulched.
  • Interior Work: Interior work will continue.
  • Rooftop Work: Insulation of ductwork will continue.
  • Deliveries: Small deliveries are expected on Chicago Avenue inside the project site.
  • Dumpster Removal: The site dumpster will be removed and replaced from New York Avenue. Workers will monitor vehicular and pedestrian traffic and campus security will be present to assist.
  • Saturday Work: Henley Construction will conduct interior work on Saturday, September 24, and Saturday, October 1. All work will follow the requirements of the noise ordinance.
Leggett Building—Construction 
  • Deliveries: Materials are being delivered on site for use within the structure. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.
  • Interior Work: Interior work on the building continues to advance.
  • Masonry: The concrete masonry work is continuing in preparation for brick installation on the exterior.
Library/Resource Center—Renovation
  • No project updates at this time.
