Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.
Upcoming activities are listed below:
- Steel
The delivery of steel materials and the erection of steel columns and beams is complete, but smaller steel components are continuing to be delivered on flatbed trucks. All trucks are required to follow designated routes to and from the site and must enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia. - Concrete Operations Changes
The placing and finishing of concrete floor slabs within the steel structure is continuing. As previously noted, a pump truck is necessary to support the placement of the slabs. To increase efficiency of the finishing process, we have consulted the City and the County about bringing in the concrete pump trucks at 6 a.m., an hour earlier than usual.Due to factors such as adverse weather, it is likely this temporary schedule adjustment may last through April. At this juncture, concrete pours will be occurring at least once a week to ensure that operations are completed as efficiently as possible. As discussed at our last Project Update Forum, sound-reducing blankets have been added to the structure exterior on the Takoma Avenue side of the site. As always, we will actively monitor site conditions and keep you informed. Learn more about the current concrete process and changes to site operations on our website. - Hauling Materials
When needed, soil is being removed and replaced from the site. - Saturday Work
Due to adverse weather, Barton Malow will conduct work this Saturday, February 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The work will follow all requirements of the noise ordinance.
