Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

Upcoming activities are listed below:

  • Saturday Work
Due to the recent rain, Barton Malow will conduct work this Saturday, October 2. Activities will primarily include the removal of excess soil from the site and will be actively coordinated to control the traffic flow of truck routes. This work will take place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will follow all requirements of the noise ordinance.
  • Hauling Materials
Due to unsuitable soils in a portion of the former Falcon Hall footprint, a large amount of soil will be removed and replaced with stone to create a structurally stable base for footers and foundations. This activity will require an increased number of trucks for hauling off materials and stone delivery. This activity will take place over the next two weeks. All trucks will be required to follow designated routes to and from the site and will enter and exit on Fenton Street from Philadelphia.
  • Earthwork
Grading continues at the south end of the site. Cut and fill excavation for the new building footprint is nearing completion. The removal of materials from the site is nearing completion, with the exception of the area noted above that requires replacement of soil with gravel.
  • Concrete
Mobilization of concrete equipment continues, including forming the delivery and placement of concrete frames, reinforcing bar, and concrete.
