Leggett Building Project Activity Update – May 14, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your interest in the Leggett Building construction project at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. We will strive to keep our neighbors informed about significant construction events with this weekly email notification.

Upcoming events are listed below:

• Demolition
  The demolition contractor is currently removing the remaining debris form Falcon Hall and Science South. Demolition of the tennis court retaining wall is underway.
• Site Utilities
  Stormwater piping and structure installation will continue. These activities will include the use of dumpsters for material removal. BMC will continue marking locations for future use for sanitary piping on the site and structure installation.
• Earthwork
  Dewatering well drilling began on May 10. Grading will begin next week using earthwork equipment. The permitted removal of trees and bushes above the tennis court retaining wall will also begin next week.
• Safety Drill
  Today, Friday, May 14, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., BMC and Montgomery College will conduct a routine emergency safety drill. This event will involve three loud airhorn noises before a practice evacuation drill. MC will also test its emergency alert notification system at this time. Thank you for your patience as we ensure the safety of our project and campus.
