About the UDC

Mission:

The UDC supports the College community by removing barriers in our working and learning environments, through the use of accessible information communication technology, inclusive physical environments, and through promotion of inclusion, social justice and cultural competence.

Values:

Accessibility, Inclusion, Diversity, Collaboration, Accountability, and Compliance

Vision

To create a movement across MC that promotes inclusion through intentional design.

Role

Through MC’s commitment to equity and inclusion, the role of the UDC is to assist MC implement practices that enable the College to meet policy standards under MC policy – 66004, Electronic Information Technology Accessibility and legal requirements under Section 504 and the ADA.

While legislation and regulations provide guidance for minimal standards expected from public institutions, Montgomery College is positioned to serve as a leader on the local, state and national level by demonstrating its commitment to excel in the work of inclusion and accessibility.  The UDC will elevate our commitment toward full inclusion and safeguard our ability to meet both our legal responsibilities and aspirational goals by implementing a process that is intentional, systematic, and mindful of our resources.  Across the College and within the county, persons of all abilities are motivated to work collaboratively to become radically inclusive and a model institution of higher learning.

The UDC consists of the UDC coordinator, UDC personnel, and steering committee that works collaboratively to accomplish goals that promote accessibility, usability, diversity and inclusion. Workgroups representing relevant constituents will be established to guide and implement established goals.
