On April 8, 2017, Hillman students from Montgomery College, Prince George’s Community College, and the University of Maryland joined hands with members of Southern Management and Mother Jones Elementary School to lend their talents as painters, cleaners, fixers, and all-around-spruce uppers to get this school ready for the new school year.
This service project was especially joyous as it also marked the tenth anniversary of this multi-layered partnership between UMD, PGCC, MC and the Hillman Family Foundation, which has served to develop leaders and entrepreneurs through entrepreneurial education, mentorship, and hands on experience and connections in the business community in and around Maryland.
Students took up mops to clean the floors, brushes to repaint walls and parking lots, window cleaner to let in the sun, and their good cheer to work together for a full day of clean-up, teamwork, and camaraderie.  As service is an integral part of the Hillman mission in developing the leaders of tomorrow in the great state of Maryland, this experience served to embed the knowledge that being a valuable and contributing member of our society is also extremely rewarding for all.
