Lirio Reyes

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” This quote captures what being a first-generation college student means to me and inspires me to lead by example as a Raptor Rep.

My name is Lirio Reyes Castro, and I am a proud first-generation Latina college student thrilled to be part of the Montgomery College community for a second year! I am pursuing a degree in business with the dream of using my career to uplift, represent, and support the Latino community in the world of finance.

At Montgomery College, I’ve been grateful for opportunities that have shaped both my education and my leadership. I currently serve as Vice President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (Beta Lambda Alpha Chapter), am a member of the Southern Management Leadership Program, and am a member of Future Link! Each of these roles has strengthened my confidence to share my voice, connect with peers, and inspire fellow students to take advantage of everything Montgomery College has to offer.

Beyond the classroom, my life is rooted in family and wellness. Whether it’s recapping our days at the dinner table or going out on Sunday mornings for breakfast together, time with loved ones grounds me. In my free time, I enjoy journaling and dancing, which helps me recharge from my busy schedule.

This is just a glimpse into my journey, but I’m excited to share Montgomery College through my eyes. I look forward to highlighting campus life, sharing helpful resources, and showing how Montgomery College empowers first-generation students to dream big and keep moving forward.
