As usual, I always provide a motivational quote at the beginning of each of my posts.

“Strength, to conquer what life may bring. Hope, to believe that you can. And courage, to take this first step, and to keep going.”

This quote that I found is so perfect for today’s post. I know as a student attending “Zoom Academy” classes can seem daunting and confusing. But it’s through a determination that we make it through. If you ever get lost, confused, or feel like you are getting left behind always speak up! Here are some things you can do to feel connected to Montgomery College during this difficult time, especially as a new student!

Join A Club! – There are so many offered at MC! Go take a look at our student life page!

Go To Office Hours! – This is so important! Make sure you take the time to get to know your professor and ask them questions when you feel lost.

Read The Syllabus! – Also super important! Make sure you take the time to read the syllabus! Write down all your due dates for each class. It really does help.

Meet Other Students! – Meet other students in your class! Try to take the time to speak up in zoom classes or create a group-me where you guys can ask questions and discuss. It really does help!

Take It One Day A Time! – At the end of the day. Be patient. With yourself, your classmates, and teachers. We are all trying t0 navigate this the best way we can! Be patient! Have gratitude for the classes and learning new material. It won’t be like this forever.

I believe in each and every one of you! We got this! WE CAN CONQUER ZOOM ACADEMY. *in all seriousness, y’all got this*

Signing off!

Hey there! I promise finding this author’s note and stumbling across my blog page is no accident. My goal at the end of the day is to hopefully get you laughing, encouraged, or ready to make a change in your life. Now back to basics. My name is Kayla Savoy and this is my second year here at Montgomery College. Although I transfered from a different Community college halfway through my first year, I decided to make the switch and study Interior Design here on the Rockville campus! My goal after graduating is to transfer to Marymount University where I will continue my path to becoming an Interior Designer!

In my spare time you might catch me walking along campus helping other students as part of my job as a Peer Navigator or hiding out in Macklin Tower playing the Sims 4! Although Interior Design is my passion for my ocupation, I have found comfort in designing stickers and writing on my own personal blog ‘Accidentally Fluffy.’

Hobbies aside, I know what it’s like to be a college student and see each phase and go through every struggle. I understand the late nights, the “I haven’t eaten in four days”, I even understand the procrastination and overwhelming desire to give up when classes get hard. I hope you view this blog as a safe haven and a place where you can get a quick laugh and not feel judged. I hope you feel empowered enough at the end of each post to search for the opportunities offered here at MC as well!
