I like to call myself an opportunist. Half of the time, I have signed up for things unsure of what exactly I will be doing but I was going to expose myself to new things, which is what I love doing. I have involved myself in several activities at Montgomery College, some of which are memories and skills I will take on for a lifetime
Alternative spring break – I was lucky enough to be one of the 10 selected students to travel to South Carolina with habitats of humanities during spring break of 2024. Not knowing what to expect other than knowing I would be helping others, I went for it. It was one of the most eye-opening trips of my life and the other MC students were such a joy to work with. We were able to build a strong bond in a short time. I hope everyone gets to experience something like this program.
New student orientation – I have so much love for the MC campus and what better way to show it off than to give tours to new incoming students! I loved interacting with the future raptors and getting to ease their nerves about starting college!
Student activity board – I enjoy the events MC would hold so I thought about what better way to see what happens behind the scenes and help out planning events myself. It was a great opportunity to meet amazing people and know the work when it comes to finances and time management.
ACES ambassador – You are very lucky if you get selected to be in the program in the 10th grade although best to take advantage of the ACES ambassador leadership program. Miss Gina (gina.dimediomarrazza@montgomerycollege.edu) has done an amazing job building up strong impeccable leaders. Bring in amazing guest speakers and empower us all. Some of us (including myself) will be graduating meaning there will be a few spots open for next year’s cohort!
It is an honor to have Ashley in our ACES Ambassador Leadership Program (AALP). She has added such an empowering voice to our team of 25 scholars in our program, now in it’s 6th year. Her creative participation (including launching our very first AALP podcast this past fall, 2023, as well as her ability to share her “authentic story”…especially her “leadership journey” is a tribute to her desire to do things with excellence, follow-through, and a VERY positive spirit! BRAVA! Onward we go, dear Ashley! Always, MsGina
