The Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building, on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus of Montgomery College, will create instructional spaces to prepare students for careers in competitive, in-demand fields that fuel the economic vitality of the County. This green building will create an environment that provides access to the future for our students and the County.

Demolition and construction of the Leggett Building started in November 2019. The facility is expected to be fully operational and open for classes in the fall semester of 2022.

The Washington, DC-based integrated design firm, SmithGroup, led design of the Leggett Building with extensive and valuable input from the community. As part of the design process, the College hosted a series of charrettes during which neighbors, community members, students, and other stakeholders collaborated with designers on a vision for the building that balances the needs of students, neighbors, and fiscal prudence.

Barton Malow, the project’s primary construction contractor, is hosting a series of Project Update Forums that offer construction updates to the community and provide an opportunity to address questions. The public is welcome to attend these forums and dates for upcoming forums are announced on this website. We invite you to sign up for email announcements about the forums and project-related news by clicking the button below.

Contact the Barton Malow team to report urgent construction issues at 800-879-9879. Calls are answered 24/7.

Thank you for your interest and support of Montgomery College and the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building.
