or legendary singer/songwriter Felix Cavaliere, his illustrious 50-year career has had the primary goal of making people feel good. His songs have helped to define a generation and he continues to remind us to keep listening for the world’s beauty. Mr. Cavaliere has had 18 Top 40 hits, five Top 10 hits, and three number one mega hits. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriter Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and the Grammy Hall of Fame. A classically trained pianist from New York, Mr. Cavaliere idolized Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, and Sam Cooke. Early in 1965, Mr. Cavaliere formed the Young Rascals with Dino Danelli, Eddie Brigati, and Gene Cornish. Later that same year, they caught the attention of promoter/manager Sid Bernstein at Long Island’s elite club, Barge. After signing with Atlantic Records and now called The Rascals, their mega hit “Good Lovin” reached number one in February 1966. They followed suit with a string of hits such as “I’ve Been Lonely Too Long,” “Groovin’,” “How Can I Be Sure,” “A Girl Like You,” “A Beautiful Morning,” and “People Got to Be Free.” The Rascals are considered one of the best ‘blue-eyed soul’ groups to come out of the 1960s.
