When the City of Gaithersburg wanted to provide management training to some of its employees, they didn’t have to travel far. Gaithersburg City Hall sits just across the street from the College’s Gaithersburg Business Training Center; and city officials made a conscious decision to “buy local”.
The first class graduated from the program earlier this month. Nineteen employees completed the comprehensive 10-week program covering key supervisory skills.
“We are pleased that the City of Gaithersburg decied to ‘buy local’ and entrust Montgomery College to train their employees,” said Transcie Almonte-Sabio, director of the management training program at Montgomery College. “We provide management, project management, and human resources training to a wide range of local companies including county government, the federal government, a plethora of private sector companies.”
Buying local has paid off. The partnership between the College and the City of Gaithersburg is growing and more training sessions are in the works.
