Starting her sixth year as president, Pollard is widely credited with establishing and implementing a new strategic direction for the College, which serves more than 60,000 students annually.

“In many ways, I feel like I’m just getting started,” reflected Pollard. “There is nothing more important than illuminating career pathways that will open up middle-class jobs and an improved standard of living for lower income residents of the county.”

In addition to being honored by the Washingtonian Magazine, Pollard recently was heralded by the Washington Area Women’s Foundation and given a prestigious Visionary Award that recognizes leaders who use their unique talents, resources and abilities to help women and girls live their dreams and reach their full potential.

Pollard was recognized for her commitment to championing the power of education to change lives (especially for women and disadvantaged youth), and enrich communities. Other honorees included: Muriel Bowser, mayor of the District of Columbia; Kaya Henderson, chancellor of D.C. public schools; and Cathy Lanier, chief of Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police.
